Building Community Through Family Involvement
NBKindness (NBK) is a neighborhood advocacy group (currently waiting on our 501(c) determination for non-profit status), composed of North Beach (Nob Hill, Russian Hill, Fisherman's Wharf, and Telegraph Hill) families and residents who use, love and advocate on behalf of our children to enjoy a safe and inclusive community.
Above all, NBK believes that the children and families of North Beach are what makes this neighborhood so special, coupled with the rich history and iconic landmarks, parks and playgrounds, NBK wants to share and welcome families to this wonderful community, while utilizing these essential resources that must be protected and optimized.
NBK is actively involved in maintaining and growing the North Beach neighborhood through special neighborhood events and community outreach, as well as providing a safe and clean neighborhood for our children.
Who We Are
NBK was started by China Halton and Tony Williams, small business owners in North Beach, as well as parents who have raised three children in North Beach, where we have witnessed first hand many of our friends and neighbors move due to costs, space, and other factors that made moving out of North Beach and San Francisco necessary.
With this in mind, creating this neighborhood advocacy group and non-profit organization is our goal to create social and advocacy opportunities to the entire North Beach (Nob Hill, Russian Hill, Fisherman's Wharf, and Telegraph Hill) neighborhoods. Ultimately, our purpose is to remind families when they are doing their PROS vs CONS list, which every family does on a weekly basis: whether to stay or go. We want to build such an amazing community that the PROS far outweigh the cons.
Along with a group of amazing neighbors, teachers, business owners, and parents who make up our Board of Directors, our purpose is for our families to meet other families who are (our words) "crazy enough and passionate enough to call San Francisco and North Beach their homes". They bond, they commiserate, they celebrate, in addition to creating lifelong friends, partners, and neighbors while fostering a strong, like-minded community which centers around our children.
